What is this medicine used for?
It is used as adjunct to proper dietary management, physical exercise and weight reduction to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus whose hyperglycemia cannot be controlled by diet and exercise alone and may be used as monotherapy or in combination with metformin or insulin.

How much and how often should you use this medicine?
Starting Dose Usual Starting Dose: 1 mg once a day with breakfast or the first main meal.
Start patients who may be more sensitive to hypoglycemic agents at 1 mg once a day and titrate dose carefully. No exact dosage relationship exists between glimepiride and other oral hypoglycemic agents.

Maximum Starting Dose: Not more than 2 mg once a day.

Failure to follow an appropriate drug regimen may precipitate hypoglycemia.
Patients who do not adhere to their prescribed dietary and drug regimen are more prone to exhibit unsatisfactory response to therapy.
