Oral Hypoglycemic Agent

Metformin is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to lower blood glucose in type 2 diabetes patients whose hyperglycemia cannot be controlled by diet and exercise alone.

Metformin can be used alone or in combination with other oral antidiabetic agents or with insulin.
