NAPROXEN SODIUM
PRESCRIPTION REQUIRED

Naproxen is used in musculoskeletal and joint disorders such as ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis including juvenile idiopathic arthritis. It is also used in dysmenorrhea, headache, migraine, postoperative pain, soft-tissue disorders, acute gout, and to reduce fever.

Dosage & Administration
Rheumatic disorders: 500mg to 1g daily either as single or 2 divided doses.
Dysmenorrhea and acute musculoskeletal disorders: 500mg initially, followed by 250mg every 6 to 8 hours.
Acute gout: 750mg followed by 250mg every 8 hours.
Migraine: 750mg given at the first symptom of an impending attack.
Juvenile idiopathic arthritis: a dose of 10mg/Kg of body weight daily in 2 divided doses.

Contraindication
Not to be given to patients who have a history of: stroke, heart attack, myocardial infarction, coronary artery bypass graft, uncontrolled hypertension, congestive heart failure.

Warnings and Precautions
General precautions to be observed include use in patients with haemorrhagic disorders or impaired renal or hepatic function. Contraindicated in patients with active peptic ulceration.

Undesirable Effects
Common: nausea, diarrhea
